Little Snitch is a powerful firewall for Mac operating system that can be used to monitor, block and allow applications to connect to the network through advanced rules. Unlike other firewalls that are primarily designed to protect the system from external attacks by restricting internal traffic, Little Snitch software is designed to protect privacy by restricting external traffic. These firewalls control the network traffic by registering the kernel extension through the standard programming interfaces (API) provided by Apple. If a program or process tries to establish a connection to the network, this firewall prevents it from connecting. The monitoring of this software allows you to see the outgoing traffic in real time along with the domain name.
Features and features of the Little Snitch program:
- History of traffic profile from the last hour, separately for each process, server, port and protocol
- Display the total amount of traffic, peak traffic consumption, average bandwidth, etc
- Variable zoom from one hour to one minute time range
- Perform filter operation with process name, server, port, etc
- Versatile grouping and sorting options
- Quickly show why a particular connection was allowed or denied.
- View system events (program startup or termination) to see network activity
- A sign of denial of connections
- Capture network traffic in PCAP format
- Save for later analysis
